At first glance, £125 (or even £100 with the 20 per cent launch discount) seems pretty steep for a pair of desert boots. But according to legend, the Hutton desert boots are the rebirth of a classic - made in Italy, no less.
We have no doubts about their quality.
But I, as one who is under 30, have no concept of what an original desert boot should be like. I have only ever known the Ben Sherman version or an IKON version; in blue, black and sand colours. All I do know about the original boots is from this very helpful article here written on The Weejun site.
Will Hutton's revival of the original style be enough to recapture the imagination of the Mods (of young and old) still out there?
I certainly hope so, but the price is a high one for originality. Only time will tell.
